Sun Pictures usually takes on the distribution work of most of the films produced by producer Kalpathi Agoram. In continuing with this trend, Sun Pictures is said to have decided to acquire the distribution rights of ‘Madarasapattinam’, the next film from Agoram, for a huge sum.

The producer was contemplating cutting down Aarya’s fee but didn’t do so, thanks to Sun Pictures’s decision to buy the film at a magnanimous rate. Director Vijay, who has earned a name for himself with films like ‘Kireedom’ and ‘Poi Solla Porom’, is working sincerely to keep that name. For ‘Madarasapattinam’, the script of which has been set in the early part of the twentieth century, Vijay wanted a tram, an archaic mode of transport.

Instead of bringing one from Kolkata where it is still in use, Vijay has asked his producer to make one such tram in Chennai itself. A part of Mount Road, after the Unit rented it, was converted into earlier ‘Madras’ that existed some 100 years ago. The art director had put in tremendous work to make it look realistic. With Sun Pictures coming to rescue, Vijay won’t have any financial worries for the time being.
